What
Solve the Mystery is engage4more’s most narratively gripping virtual team-building experience — an immersive murder mystery activity that places your team members in the shoes of detectives tasked with solving a crime within a structured investigation window. The storyline is deliberately engaging and thought-provoking: suspects with credible motives, evidence that points in multiple directions, witness testimonies that require cross-referencing, and a ticking clock that demands teams coordinate their investigation effort precisely rather than pursue individual hunches. The result is a team experience that tests negotiation skills, analytical thinking, and cross-functional communication simultaneously — in a format that is genuinely compelling enough to maintain full attention for its entire duration.
Our virtual activities are designed using engage4more’s MORE² Framework, which diagnoses the specific engagement dimensions your distributed team needs to strengthen. For organisations aligning virtual engagement to strategic priorities, our SPARK Framework ensures every virtual experience connects to your organisational goals. For maximum impact, we recommend combining virtual activities with one of our expert Motivational Speakers for a complete virtual event programme.
Solve the Mystery works as a virtual team-building activity because the investigation format creates genuine interdependence: no single team member has access to all the evidence, no single analytical approach cracks all the clues, and no team succeeds without integrating the contributions of every investigative role. These are not manufactured collaboration requirements — they are structural features of the mystery itself, which means the team dynamics that emerge during the investigation are authentic reflections of how the team actually coordinates under pressure. The post-mystery debrief is consistently one of the most honest and most specific team conversations our facilitators conduct.

How
Teams join via video conferencing and enter breakout rooms where the investigation begins. Each team receives a case file containing the crime scene overview, a list of suspects, and their first set of evidence. The facilitator progressively releases new evidence, witness testimonies, and plot developments as teams advance through the investigation. Teams must interrogate suspects (played by the facilitator or through recorded witness clips), cross-reference evidence, and submit their formal accusation — naming the perpetrator, the motive, and the method — before the investigation window closes. Accuracy and reasoning quality determine the winning team.
