About Sharath Gayakwad
Sharath Gayakwad is an ace paralympic swimmer. Born with a deformed left hand, he has scaled incredible heights as a swimmer.
Achievements
He was bestowed with the Arjuna Award in 2015. The swimmer broke PT Usha’s record for most no. of medals at any multi-discipline event, achieving this feat in the 2014 Asian Games by winning six medals. A winner in not just the pool but in life too. He was the first Indian swimmer to compete for the Paralympics in 2012. He also found a place in the Forbes’ 30 under 30 Asia 2017 list. While he is not winning laurels in swimming, Sharath is also running a start-up in the form of a joint venture providing a marketplace for practice gears & equipment for swimmers.
