About Deepa Malik
Deepa Malik stands as one of India’s most inspiring para-athletes, an icon whose journey transcends sport and resonates deeply with anyone who has ever faced adversity. Competing in shot put, javelin throw, and discus throw, she has redefined what determination truly means. She made history as the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Paralympic Games, securing a silver in shot put at the Rio 2016 Paralympics, a moment that forever changed the landscape of para-sports in India. What makes her success extraordinary is not just the medal, but the strength behind it. Paralysed from the waist down after a spinal cord tumor surgery, Deepa refused to let her condition dictate her future. Instead, she chose courage—pushing herself into multiple sports such as swimming, athletics, and even motorsports, proving that no challenge is too big when the will is strong.
When you book Deepa Malik for your event, you bring in a speaker who embodies resilience, empowerment, and limitless possibility. Deepa has earned numerous accolades throughout her journey, including the Arjuna Award (2012), Padma Shri (2017), and the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award (2019), India’s highest sporting honour. She holds several Asian and national records and has won multiple medals across global competitions in javelin, discus, and shot put.
Her achievements extend beyond athletics. Deepa Malik became the first differently-abled individual in India to obtain a motorsport rally licence, competing in high-adrenaline events like the Raid-de-Himalaya and Desert Storm rallies. She has also been featured multiple times in the
LIMCA Book of World Records for her extraordinary feats in adventure sports. Her voice today is a powerful advocate for disability rights, women’s empowerment, and inclusive opportunities. Hiring Deepa Malik brings unmatched inspiration, authenticity, and strength to your event—leaving your audience with a renewed belief in what is possible.
