What

Lego Play is one of the most psychologically sophisticated team-building experiences in engage4more’s portfolio — and also one of the most universally beloved. Rooted in the globally recognised LEGO® Serious Play™ methodology, this workshop is built on a single counterintuitive insight: that the hands know things the mouth struggles to say. When participants build a three-dimensional model in response to a structured question, they externalise mental models and perspectives that would never surface in a standard meeting. Every model tells a story. Every story is heard. And in a well-facilitated session, the collective intelligence of your team becomes genuinely visible for the first time.

Our delivery is grounded in engage4more’s MORE² Framework, which diagnoses the precise engagement gaps your team needs to address. Where strategic alignment is the objective, we layer in our SPARK Framework to connect the activity to your organisational priorities. To maximise the day’s impact, we recommend anchoring the session with one of our expert Motivational Speakers whose keynote primes the team for the experience ahead.

The experience works for every level of the organisation — from the quietest junior analyst who has never been asked their opinion in a meeting, to the most senior leader who discovers that their mental model of what the team thinks is very different from the models on the table. This is the activity that HR leaders consistently describe as “the session my team is still talking about six months later.”

How

Our certified facilitators guide the group through the LSP arc: Pose a Question — Build a Model — Tell a Story — Reflect Together. Teams begin with warm-up builds to reconnect their hands and minds, move to individual models representing personal perspectives on a team challenge, and then to shared landscape builds representing the collective view. Every model is respected. Every story is heard completely before any questioning begins. The debrief synthesises the team’s landscape into actionable insights documented and shared post-session.

Stages

  • Stage 1: The Hands Warm-Up – Simple warm-up builds to reconnect participants with their tactile creativity and overcome adult resistance to playing.

  • Stage 2: The Individual Build – Each participant builds their personal model in response to a core question relevant to your team challenge.

  • Stage 3: The Story Circle – Every participant shares their model’s story completely. No model is wrong. Facilitator ensures psychological safety throughout.

  • Stage 4: The Shared Landscape – Teams combine individual models into a collective landscape representing their shared vision or challenge map and discuss what it reveals.

  • Stage 5: The Insight Harvest – Facilitator synthesises the landscape’s key themes into 3–5 actionable insights documented for your HR or leadership team.

FAQs

Our Lego Play programme is inspired by and draws directly from the globally validated LEGO Serious Play (LSP) methodology. Our facilitators are trained in the LSP approach and use its core structure: Pose a Question, Build a Model, Tell a Story, and Reflect as a Group.
Not at all. The methodology is specifically designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of artistic or creative skill. There is no right or wrong way to build — the act of building is the medium.
The session can be built around virtually any team challenge: team identity and values, strategic planning, leadership development, post-merger integration, communication improvement, or innovation culture building. We customise the question framework with you in advance.
Lego Play works best in groups of 12 to 50 participants. For smaller groups (8–12), it creates an intimate and very deep conversation. For groups above 50, we use parallel facilitation tracks and then synthesise insights across groups.
A standard session runs 2.5 to 3.5 hours, covering the warm-up, individual builds, story circle, shared landscape, and insight harvest. A compressed 90-minute version is available for groups with limited time.
We require tables (not classroom-style rows) to allow participants to build and display their models. A standard hotel conference room or workshop space works well. We bring all LEGO pieces and facilitation materials.
Two types of output: a physical shared landscape built by the team (photographed and shared as a visual reference), and a written insight document prepared by our facilitator capturing 3–5 key themes with recommended action steps.
It is especially effective for senior leadership teams. The methodology creates psychological safety where leaders can express perspectives they might not articulate in a conventional strategy session — leading to richer, more honest conversations.
Yes, and this is one of Lego Play's greatest strengths. The insight document is designed to be directly integrated into your L&D planning, team charter development, or organisational design process.
We recommend a minimum of 7 to 10 working days to allow for question framework customisation, LEGO kit preparation, and facilitator briefing. For complex multi-track programmes or large groups of 50+, we recommend 3 to 4 weeks.
