About Sheetal Kimmatkar
From Nagpur, Maharashtra, Sheetal Kimmatkar, a severely deaf magician and football coach, has used personal hardship as a springboard for inspiration and self-determination. After receiving a deafness diagnosis at age three, Sheetal encountered prejudice and social difficulties. Undeterred, she continued her studies, earning a degree in commerce. To improve her employability, she also learned to type and receive beautician instruction.
Her love of magic brought her recognition on a global scale; she won awards for comedy and best performance in Lithuania and took second place in a Chicago magic competition. Sheetal has a strong commitment to social change outside of the stage. She empowers deaf children through football, teaching them life skills and enhancing their confidence as a coach with Slum Soccer's DeafKidz Goal! Project.
Sheetal's path from a marginalised to a well-known coach and performer is a testament to tenacity and the transformational potential of willpower.
