About Rahul Gajjal
Rahul began his musical journey at a young age. His interest was sparked when he started playing kitchen utensils as a child, mimicking the beats of songs. Recognizing his innate talent, his parents gifted him a toy piano, and he began copying the demo tunes without formal training. This led them to enroll him in music classes, where he learned to play various instruments, including the harmonium and keyboard.
Rahul's dedication to music led him to pursue formal education at Furtados School of Music (FSM), where he trained under the guidance of Crystal, a teacher who understood his needs and helped him excel. Despite financial challenges, FSM supported him by providing access to pianos for practice. He passed the Trinity College London's graded music exams with flying colors and went on to perform at prestigious venues like NCPA, Shanmukhanand Hall, and NSCI Dome.

Why Rahul Gajjal?
Rahul is visually impaired, yet he has mastered complex instruments, passed international music exams, and composes intricate film scores—all without relying on standard sheet music. He’s a living example that disability does not limit talent or ambition, especially in a field like music where precision and coordination are crucial. The music and entertainment industries in India, especially classical and film music, are not always equipped or willing to accommodate artists with disabilities. Rahul’s career challenges that norm—he thrives in a system that wasn’t built for him, pushing for change while proving what’s possible.
Rahul doesn’t just pursue music for himself. He advocates for systemic changes—like more access to Braille sheet music and better support for disabled artists. He uses his voice to open doors for others, not just for applause. His journey began with banging on kitchen utensils, progressed through toy keyboards, and evolved into performing at major venues—all without formal tools most musicians take for granted. His story is about pure musical love, grit, and resourcefulness.
