He is one of the first few poets of Hasya Ras (Comic and Satiric Poetry). He has established the tradition of Hasya-Ras among Kavi Sammelan industry. Sharma was honored by the Government of India, in 2013, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.
