About Riza Reji
Diagnosed with Down syndrome, Riza is a passionate painter and visual artist. She studied until Grade 2 at Academic International School in Tanzania (2006–2010) and later attended special schools and activity-oriented classes in Tanzania (2010–2014). She continued her education at Beautiful Minds Astitva in Bangalore (2015–2019), where she received training in front desk assistance, hospitality, and dance.
Riza has trained with Shiamak Davar Dance Company, Laveena Ashish Dance Company, and Preetesh Tumlu. She has also been involved in drama and movement with Art Courtyard Productions and is currently pursuing theatre and movement under Diana Tholoor. She performed in an inclusive stage play, "Excerpts from Arabian Nights," in June 2023.
In 2022, Riza was selected to represent India in the annual "Be Beautiful, Be Yourself" fashion show organized by the Global Down Syndrome Foundation in Denver, Colorado. She became the first Indian to participate in this event, which aims to raise funds for research on cognitive health issues.
